Vinitha Anand was born in Trivandrum in 1964. She is the great grand daughter of artist Mangala Bai Thampuratti, who is the sister of the renowned artist Raja Ravi Varma. Vinitha developed an interest in art while she was in school, and her artistic talents were enhanced under the expert guidance of artists B.D. Dethan, Ravishanker, and Varghese Punalur. Artist V.Satheesan supported her sculpting skills and she is guided on the philosophical aspects of Art by Artist V. Ilango. Vinitha graduated from the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning in 1984, after which she earned diplomas in Interior design and decor and computer-aided design. She also completed a short course on Art Therapy based on Anthroposophy. She resides in Trivandrum and is Married to Ananda Kumar, an active social worker. Her work was first exhibited to the public in 1988 in association with the Rotary Club of Trivandrum. She has participated in several solo and group exhibitions nationally and internationally.
